about 13 yrs ago, when skater lads wore baggy pants, my cuff caught on the top of a chain link fence i climbed at a school. as i jumped down, i was swung into the fence, then hung for a second, then dropped onto my face when my pants ripped. my body absorbed the impact in an awkward arch, culminating with my feet tapping the back of my head. the pain was excruciating. i thought i had broken my back. needless to say, i was struck dumb by the pain and embarrassment.
